I currently finished "Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life" by Wendy Mass. Whereas it took me awhile to get into the book, it was well worth the patience! This book is a wonderful roller coaster ride that both teens and adults can enjoy. Jeremy, the main character, discovers the happiness that life provides by going on a quest brought on by his deceased father. It's not as morbid as it sounds, though!!! It actually makes you realize that "life is short, make the most of it!"

I'm reading a book called "Chasing Vermeer" by Blue Balliett and illustrated by Brett Hellquist. It is pretty good so far. It is about these two kids, Petra and Calder, that are trying to figure out why everybody is getting framed for stealing a famous Vermeer painting called "A Lady Writing", like the old hag, mrs. Sharpe, and their teacher, Ms. Hussey Calder always has pentominoes with him. They're all in the sixth grade. I'm about half-way throught it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, awesome...

ReplyDeleteI am reading "The Thing About Georgie" A Novel By Lisa Graff. It is a Rebecca Caudill winner this year. This book talks about dwarfism, and how Georgie learns how to cope with it.He goes through Mocking, mostly by "Jeanie the Meanie."This book is funny but serious at the same time. For me it was easy to get into.Oh, and Georgies parents, there having a baby.Georgie is wondering if the baby will be a dwarf like him or normal. This book will keep you turning pages, whether you are an adult or child.

I'm reading Night by Elie Wiesel. My teacher suggested this bokk to me and even though i just started it, it's a great book so far. It's a autobiography about Elie Wiesel and how he survived the holocaust. The sad part is he watches all his family and friends die right infront of him at a young age. this book is teaching me the treacherous days during WWII and how the jewish religion stood strong.

The book I'm reading is called Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson. It's about a guy named Tyler Miller who has a pretty screwed up life. Not only did he vandalize the school, but now he's being accused of not only sexual harassment, but stalking and sexual assault. It all started with his love of a girl named Bethany Milbury, who liked him too; but after an incident at a party between her and him, at a party, alone in a bedroom, her being drunk, and him refusing to take advantage of her, things take a turn for the worst. Nude pictures of Bethany show up on the net, and he's the one who's being targeted by the police, and the other kids at school. He's been threatened, beaten up, and tormented for too long. He contemplates suicide. I am about three-fourths of the way through the book, maybe a bit more. This book is quite the thriller, though, there are a lot of mature themes, that aren't for everyone; but if you like a good drama, that keeps you guessing until the last page, then this book is definitely for you.

I am currently reading the book " The Sea of Monsters" By: Rick Riordan. The book itself has alot of boring parts in but when you keep reading it gets intresting. The main character Percy is going to school for last day and suddenly during P.E. an monster comes in and puts a big hole in the wall. Percy and his friend Tyson make a run for it thru a big hole in the wall. When they arrive at camp Half-Blood realized there was poison in the gardian tree. Tyson has dreams of Grover, his friend that is really close to him, is trying to tell him something in his dreams, but the connection wasn't strong. Finally, one night Tyson got the message and found out that a cyclops captured him and Grover said he was by The Sea of Monsters. The next day Tyson set out to find Grover. That is as far as i have gotten in my book.

ReplyDeleteIam on page 165,Flamel took Sophie and Josh Newman to Hekate, the daughter
of Perses and Asteria, she is the Goddes of Magic and Spells.Flamel asked her to awaken the twins' magic powers. The gods and goddesses of Greece and Egypt,of Sumeria and the Indus Valley,of the Toltec and the Celt, existed. They weren't different gods, however;they were simply the same Elders called by different names. If Hekate awakened the twins' dormant magical powers, then he could use what he had learned over six hundred yers of study to increase their skills.

I'm still reading "Uglies".It's a interesting story.Let me tell you about a little bit about the story. To be able to go to New Pretty Town you have to be 16 years old and you turn pretty on your birthday.New Pretty Town has better stuff then Uglyville. Also, they dont work and Uglyville does.

It's Tally birthday but there was a problem with the operation. So she has to go to this special place.

I am reading Inkheart By Cornelia Funke. I'm about half way through and its great. Inkheart is about a little girl named Meggie, who's dad has some kind of power to bring characters and other things to life from books. One of the problems is he doesn't know what will come out or when it'll come out. Another problem is he can't read characters or anything else back into their story. So it becomes a bit difficult when a character wants to be read back in to their own story. I suggest this book to anyone who has a good imagination and who likes a bit of a mystery.

Iam still reading "The Alchemyst",Iam on page 212.The Codex prophesies said that the two that are one will come either to save or destroy the world. The two that are one are Sophie and Josh Newman. They must face Dee,and Morrigan, they contacted one of the fearest of the Elders:Bastet. She is an Egyptian cat goddess.Hekate has to awaken the twins powers so they can face their enemies with the help of Nicholas Flamel.Hekate is an 11 year old girl in the mornnig,in the afternoon she is around 30 years old,and at night she is an old lady.she looks like a witch. She can hear everything that is said in her house. If Hekate awakens the twins power, the sensory overload could destroy them, drive them mad.If Hekate awaken their powers the twins could be kill.I recomend this book because its a really good book its based on real people like Nicholes Flamel and Parenell, they were real people.Nicholes was an Alchemyst,to his hands came the book of Abraham tha Mage.In the 21 page book was the elixir of eternal life. His wife dieded before him,he supposely dieded but his tomb was empty. It is said that he still lives because he has been preparing the elixir of eternal life.

I currently finished "The Chronicles of Vladmir Tod" By: Heather Brewer. This book is the 3rd in the series. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read the "twilight" series because this book has some good and bad vampires in it to. Basically, Vladmir Tod is a vampire which nobody else knows exept Henry, his long-time freind, and nelly, His guardian. He goes through trouble trying to stop D'Ablo, An evil vampire, from taking his status as the Pravus. The Pravus is a legend in the vampire world with a half human half Vampire that will rule mankind one day. I relly enjoyed this book.

The book I am currently reading is called The Juvie Three by Gordan Korman. It's about three teenage boys named Gecko, who is 15, Ajay who is 15, and Terence who is 16 or 17. They're all convicted felons and serving their time in prison, however, one day their savior comes: Mister Healy. He wants to help kids like these three to get back on their feet and not have to live their teenage years in violent prisons. Healy arranges a sort of "half-way house" for the three boys, where they stay with Mr. Healy for the rest of their sentencing, attend school, and live a rather normal life compared to that of juvenile prison, however one night Terence, the most "gangster" of the three tries to escape to go do "business" with a gangster named DeAndre. Business as in the selling and stealing stolen electronics. Terence knows that this could get them sent back to prison, but he doesn't care. (He's an extremely egotistical person.) He gets caught sneaking out and as Mr. Healy climbs down the fire escape to get Terence, Terence panics and bolts down the fire escape, but not before grabbing Ajay's arm, who's holding on to Mr. Healy. Mr. Healy falls, unconscious, bleeding, lifeless. Still alive, or at least hoping so, they rush him to the closest hospital. The boys now have to survive on their own, in a half-way house, where they're closely watched by their neighbours, and Ms. Vaughn, an old bat who wants them back in jail, and where they can get arrested and sentenced to even more time if they roam no more than 100 yards of the school and the apartment. This book isn't really that thrilling, although there are some thrilling parts. It's confusing at times, but I like some of it. I'm about 3/5 through the book, and it's becoming a bit more exciting. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants a moderate to good read, though, it's not for anyone who needs a thrill ride.

The book I am currently reading is "Crazy IN L@VE" by Dandi Dalley Mackall .I'm about half way through and its great. I like when Mary Jane Ettermeyer's head as two other side of her.
ReplyDeletePlain Jane is every parent's favorite: a smart, sensible and brutally honest rule-follower who always thinks of others before herself.
M.J., on the other hand, is adventurous, sexy and always has just the right witty comeback on hand. When looking in the mirror, she sees someone hot (especially by cutie Jackson House).
Plain Jane and M.J. don't often agree. But no matter what they do or think, they're stuck with each other because they both live in Mary Jane Ettermeyer's head. They bicker over what to wear, who to sit with at lunch, and, of course, Jackson.

The book i reading right now is "The lone Ranger and Tonto fistfight in Heaven". Its about Victor and his relatives who are at an indian reservation. His fanily and himself are heavy drinkers. He really just goes around doing drugs with his cousins. So far they tried these "magic mushrooms" and have this hallucinations that made them as if they were indians from thee old times. this book has explict words like The "S" word and the "F" word. The book also is his heavy about alcohol, drugs and other types of that kind. I would not recommend this for people not mature enough. It's a great book but it might not be safe for young kids.

I am just finished "Ark Angel" by Anthony Horowitz. I liked to book, but too many people die in it. I liked the characters. My favorite was Alex, The main charcter. He seemed to keep calm in all the bad situations, something not everybody can do. My most (and least) favorite part was when Alex went into space because he seemed to like it after he got to Ark Angel, but when he met Kaspar again, it was a little gory.

I am currently reading "The Hunger Games". So far the book is very intresting and I enjoy it. The first chapter was kinda boring ,but then it started getting intresting half way throgh Chapter Two. Right now I'm currently on chapter 3. I would perfer this book to anyone even if they don't like reading. I don't like reading, but I like this book because I think it's interesting and kinda risky for Katniss. My book is about Katniss who is 16 years old and her sister Prim who is 12,and it's Prim's first year in the reaping. They live in District 12 in Panem. The country is devided into 12 sections and then there is a Capitol which is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line. The Hunger Games are where there are 24 tributes from the districts and only 1 girls and 1 boy are selected from each section and they have to try to survive while they are on live T.V. and have to fight to the death.

The book I am currently reading is Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. John has just gone on leave from the army and he spends most of his spear time surfing. He was sitting on the beach and he saw a girl that he thought was pretty and her friend. They were on the pier and the brunette(girl he thought was pretty) set her bag on the railing. Then came along some "frat brothers" one of them, the one wearing an orange shirt, accidently knocked the brunette's bag into the water. John then jumps into the water to retrive the bag. when he comes to shore the brunette thanks him, and introduces herself to him and he does the same. Her name is Savannah. She is at the beach for this organization that builds homes for the homeless. They soon become friends. He believes that he is falling in love with her but he also believes that it may be to soon to tell because he just met her two days before. He decides that the only way to find out is to ask her on a date. He asks her. She says yes. He takes her to a reseraunt that specializes in shrimp. When the date is over he walks her home. When they get to her house he was going to attempt to kiss her but he decides not to. He was just about tto leave to go home when she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. This is as far as i have got. A person who would like this book is someone who likes romantic books.

ReplyDeleteI just finish "LOVE THAT DOG" BY Sharon Creech. If you like poetry and short books, like I do, you should read this book. The book is about a boy named Jack and his dog name Sky.Well he likes his dog a lot and he writes poems about him. He doesn't want his teacher to put his poems on the board because he thinks that they are not good and he is scarred that people are going to make fun of him if he writes bad or good poems.I think you should read this book because its a interesting book.

I'm reading "13 Reasons Why" by Jay Asher. The story follows a guy named Clay, who's "friend" or more appropriately, "acquaintance" Hannah commits suicide but leaves behind 13 tapes(7 if you don't count both sides on each tape except for one.) that she sends to the people who she deemed the cause of her death. The things they did, said, or implied were all factors as to why she killed herself. In the book, Clay has to listen to all of the tapes until he finds his name, and then he has to pass it on to the next person on the list. If he doesn't, Hannah said in one of her tapes, the tapes will be released in "a very public way." So he listens to the tapes and goes to the places that she's placed a red star on, on a map of the town. So while he listens to the tapes, he's reliving her life. She wants the people who pushed her over the age to feel what it was like to live in her shoes. This book is sort of boring at first, but it does have a few intriguing aspects. This book has a few mature themes, that aren't for immature readers. For me, though, it's pretty boring, but I want to give it a chance. From what I've read, if you want an "easy" read, as in you don't want big words, you'll probably enjoy this book because it's written in common text. I'm about half of the way through, to three-quarters of the way through.

I just finished reading 2 books actually. The Secret Language of Girls and The Kind of Friends We Used to Be, by Frances O'Roark Dowell. The Secect Language of Girls is about two girls that have been best friend's since they were really little. When they get to their first year in middle school(6th grade). They get a new neighbor who takes Marylin away from Kate (the main characters). So Kate has to find other friends because Flannery(the girl that becomes friends only with Marylin and whos also a year older)and Marylin give Kate the silent treatment,so Kate has really no friends. The Kind of Friends We Used to Be is the sequel to The Secect Language of Girls. It's the girls second year in middle school. In this book Kate wants to play guitar and be like those girls who don't really care what other people think. Marylin and Kate talk every once in a while but are still not as close as they used to be. They kind of went their seperate ways meeting new friends along the way, Marylin meeting new friends with being a cheerleader finding other friends in her classes. Kate meets new friends from i think Poetry Class and also makes friends with Flannery who never was very nice to her. They're really good books. But I recommend these books more for girls. Girl Drama!!

ReplyDeleteRight now I'm in page 69 and so far is a really good book. This book is mainly about two friends that share everyhting, and sometimes they trade anythings.Marylin and Kate had been doing this for a long time,it's kind of a game they like to play between them two, sincean early age.
I think that Marylin's parents are like my friend Jacky's parent, so strick with her.For my point of view, been to strick is sometimes wrong because then the kids feel pressure end up going through the wrong path.
It's good to be strick but not to much.

She walked over to her window and looked outside and saw that there was a thin sheet of snow covering the ground. She grouned and left for school. When she arrived at school she was in the parking lot and out of nowhere she hears a horrible skreeching noice. It was a van coming straight towards her slipping on a sheet of black ice. Edward soon ran in front of her and pushed her out of the way. She fell and hit her head off of the hard blacktop ground. This is as far as I have gotten.

ReplyDeleteThe one I am reading at school is third Percy Jackson book, The Titan's Curse. I am towards the end of it and it is a very good book. I reccommend it to anyone who like Ancient Greek Gods and funny adventures.
The book I am reading at home is called "Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige" or "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" is a famous book by the Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf. It is about a bot named Nils that travel all aroud the countryof Sweden and finds many great things about his home country. Nils is a boy that love to eat, sleep, and get into mischief. He visits all the provices of Sweden, and Nils learns lessons about what it takes to be a mature man, rather than a trouble/making little kid. The cool part about my book is that the picture of Nils flying with the geese is on the back of the 20 Kronor swedish banknote.

I finished "TH1RTEEN R3ASONS WHY" by Jay Asher.
ReplyDeleteAt first I dodn't really understand the book but when I read more I kindda understand what happening in the story.
Throughout the tapes Hannah expresses how people never tried to get close to her, never tried hard enough to help her out. Clay, though he conveys that he tried but she pushed him away, realises that this was the problem; that even though people may be refusing help, pushing people away and all they really want is someone to share it with, someone to join their little corner of the universe. Clay want to save Hannah but how can you save someone when you can't even see them?

ReplyDeleteI finished the book "Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli. It is so good that I decided to read ths second book called "Love, Stargirl." The book is about a new girl who showed up in class wearing an unusual antique gown. Then at lunch, she took her akulele off her back and then she sang "Im looking for a four leaf clover." You just don't do stuff like that if you want to fit in. As the story continues, Stargirl ending up liking Leo. Leo tried to change her but in the end he ends up destroying the important thing that made her special.

Then finally Landon gets the guts to finally go and ask her out. The lesson Landon learned was that he doesnt care what his friends think about what he likes and he gets to make his own decisions in life

ReplyDeleteI've just finished Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. It's a really good book but its kind of a little to mature for people under 12. It's about a teenage girl named Rose. Rose can sometimes be careless or irresponsible as some people think. She kind of took a vaction for a while with her best friend, Lissa Dragomir, a Moroi princess. Which made them believe she had kidnapped her. Actually the only one left of her family. All of her family died in a car accident. But Lissa and Rose were the only ones who survived in the accident. After being caught and having to go back to the academy, Rose has to catch up with the other novice guardians. She has to take extra classes with a guy named Dimitri that is a guardian, but Rose kind of likes him. And once they get back their finding some very weird things happening to them, mostly Lissa.

My book is Miracle of Saint Anthonys. So, far I've read that St. Anthonys is a top ranked basketball school in 2000 - 2004, but they are very low in money. The school is in a town on the outside of New York that is over run by immigrants that came to America in the 1800's. Their basketball team was ranked 5 in the nation in 2002. They have a lot of talent, but can't seem to keep their grades high enought to be enigible to get division one scolerships. I wouldn't recommend this book to Max Stickland, because he doen't like to read perfectly written books.

I have currnetly just finished "Bleachers". It was a great book. I injoyed it a lot and my favorite part was probably at the end of the book. Neely finally let go of something that he held onto since high school. He let go of it at the person's wake that did it to him. I loved the book because it was about Football. I just finished reading "Gifted" by Marilyn Kaye. The book is about a group of 8 kids with "gifs". Amanda and her "group" or "crew" are known as the meanist most popular girls at school. Well Amanda didn't know about her "gift". When Amanda was young she was nice. and she was best friends with Tracey Devon one of the most unpopular nerdy "freeks" at there school. But when Amanda started to feel bad about people and enter there bodies thats when she becane mean, she tryied not feeling bad for people around her or she would become then for a period of time untill she entered her body. When she was in Tracy's body she learned about her life, and how she wouldnt stick up for her self when she was being ignored. While Amanda was in her body she changed her looks. Jenna, another girl in the "gifted" class, could read mindes and knew thats Tracey wasnt Tracey. Amanda tryied her best to keep it a secret but failed. I enjoied reading "Gifted". I am goint to read the second book too.

I'm currently reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I'm about three fourths in the book and it's really cool and weird and scary at the same time. It's about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who volunteers to be in the hunger games after her sister got chosen. The hunger games is a place where 2 tributes from each of the districts(there are 12 districts), a boy and a girl, battle to the death in an arena and it's also on live tv. It's very rough for all 24 tributes because they have to watch their backs every second of the day.

A Bend in the Road, the book I am know reading. I can say its good, because I like reading about love and all those romantic cheesy stuff. Jonah, Miles son really misses his mom, but hes getting along with the new girl that his dad found named Sarah. There not really married or anything. Yeat.Sarah is Jonas theacher and he likes her very much. He often asks hes dad lots of times if hes going to marry Sarah. I enjoy reading this kinds of storys because they seem to be really true. I get along with this book pretty good and one of my favorite things so far is that Jona plays soccer, and as you may know soccer is my favorite sport and its also the bomb. This writter makes the book sound really interesting he describes every sinle part of the book with jentlelness and coolesness you get what im sayin? Thats about it that I down for my book when i get done Fernanado want to read it but, he needs to a take walk.

I am reading "I'd Tell You I LOVE You, But Then I'd Have To KILL You" by Ally Carter. The book is about three girls that are best friends named Cammie, Liz, and Bex they all go to an all girl spy school because they are spays. But one day this girl named Macey comes to the school she is pretty. Some weeks pass by and a new boy comes to the all girl school and Cammie likes him. I thought that was weird because it's an all girl school. That’s why Cammie doesn’t like Macey because she is scared that the guy she dating will dump her to go with Macey because she is pretty.

ReplyDeleteThe book that I’m reading now is “HOW TO DITCH YOUR FAIRY” by Justine Larbalestier. It about one girl name Charlie, a student at New Avalon Sports High, shes not-so-happy owning a parking fairy. Not only is it useless for someone who can’t even drive, it’s a major annoyance because of all the people wanting her to ride in their cars and get them a good parking spot. Charlie hates cars. She hates drivers and also she hates their little squeals of joy when they find a parking spot.
